My name is Christopher Hanson. I was Born in 1983 I on the north shores of Long Island and have pursued art here all my life. In 2006 I graduated with honors from the University of Hartford’s School of fine art with a dual discipline in drawing and painting. Although I would consider myself a painter first and foremost, my passion for art has manifested itself in many mediums be they drawing, painting, woodwork, ceramic, film, photography and percussion. My work is heavily influenced and nuanced by the old master works of the Renaissance and Baroque eras, as well as many of my contemporaries today. With a figurative foot firmly planted between classic and contemporary, I strive to balance the modern concepts of realism; by bridging the worlds of modern day and historical figurative and narrative arts. My biggest challenge as a painter is to keep old world aesthetics alive while simultaneously keeping my subjects fresh, modern and relatable to an ever advancing society. My use of composition, color, light, drama and mood are all integral components to this idea, as well as my body of work as a whole.
